1. The world is trying to keep you stupid. From bank fees to interest rates to miracle diets, people who are not educated are easier to get money from and easier to lead. Educate yourself as much as possible for wealth, independence, and happiness.
2. Do not have faith in institutions to…
You convince yourself that things are different this time.
You realize that nothing has changed in the past four years
You find you’ve made a full circle, ready to go on the path you once left.
You know it’s just old hiding under a different disguise pretending to be new.
You fall for it. But it’s just the same old same old.
Sometimes we don’t learn from our mistake
Sometimes we’ve no choice but to walk away
-The Script
Just because I’m losing
Doesn’t mean I’m lost
Doesn’t mean I’ll stop
Doesn’t mean I’m across
Just because I’m hurting
Doesn’t mean I’m hurt
Doesn’t mean I didn’t get what I deserved
No better and no worse
I just got lost!
Every river that I tried to cross
Every door I ever tried was locked
Oh and I’m just waiting til the shine wears off
— Lost-Coldplay
I am beginning to fully understand that all broken things in my life have a direct correlation to my sin. I know that though I cannot fall out of God’s grace, my blatant choice to pick sinfulness over godliness has direct results and consequences.
Because of God’s abundant grace in bad situations throughout my life, it would seem that my life would start looking different. Yet I find myself going through the same cycle of mistakes and poor choices, realizing how hard it is to resist temptation.
I know now, how important it is that we stay blameless, resisting temptation and continuously clinging to the cross. For sin’s consequences is enough evidence that nothing is more fulfilling than walking with the Lord. But God knew that. He knew how bad sin was for us, so he sent his son Jesus to pay the debt for our sin. To Him I am forever indebted
“ But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.” -1 Corinthians 15:57
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”-1 John 2: 15-17
Dear God,
Please teach me how to treat every day as a blessing and gift from you. Show me what it means to have a heart of gratitude, giving praise to you for all things.

“Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me,
For I am desolate and afflicted.
The troubles of my heart have enlarged;
Bring me out of my distresses!
Look on my affliction and my pain, and forgive all my sins.
Consider my enemies, for they are many;
And they hate me with cruel hatred.
Keep my soul, and deliver me;
Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You.“ Psalm 25:16-20
Still so relevant to dream this…
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
Not a popular quote, but maybe it should be?
Good word.

Today my sister emailed me this letter from John Piper written to a boy dealing with the normal teenage issues of identity, insecurity, etc. Even though I’m about to turn 21, I still think much of what Piper said is very relevant to my life.
He talks about how life is like changing from a tadpole to a frog; I think it’s a really amusing analogy hehe.
Some good stuff from Piper’s letter. It’s kinda pieced together and abrupt, but whatevs:
“God is good. He has his plan and it is not to make this metamorphosis easy. Just certain. There are a thousand lessons to be learned in the process. Nothing is wasted. Life is not on hold waiting for the great coming-out. That’s what larvae do in the cocoon. But frogs are public all the way though the foolishness of change.
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. —2 Cor 3:18
This was one of the greatest secrets I ever discovered: Beholding is becoming.
So my advice is: be patient with the way God has planned for you to become a very happy, belly-bumping frog. Don’t settle for being a tadpole or a weird half-frog. But don’t be surprised at the weirdness and slowness of the process either.
I love you and believe God has great froggy things for you. Don’t worry about being only a high-hopping Christlike frog. Your joy comes from what you see.
Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.
There is another metamorphosis awaiting. It just gets better and better. God is infinite. So there will always be more of his glory for a finite mind to see. There will be no boredom in eternity.”
